Teaching In Colleges Today (TICT)

If you have under 1 years teaching experience or are new to NESCol then these will be one of your first steps introducing you to the NESCol way of delivering exceptional learning experiences for our students. 

Overview

This unit is delivered using a blended learning approach and assessed within NESCol but is part of the College Development Network suite of support for new lecturer with no prior teaching experience to get to grips with what they need to do as a college.

By working through the online learning materials and completing the associated formal assessments you will be more confident in your ability to use and apply a range of teaching skills in ways that are effective, stimulating and which promote active engagement and achievement.

Course Information

On completion of this Unit, you will be able to:

  • Outcome 1: Manage the learning process through lesson planning

  • Outcome 2: Manage the learning environment through learner engagement

  • Outcome 3: Manage their professional development through a process of reflection and evaluation of learning

To achieve this Unit, you will have to successfully, plan and deliver a lesson. This lesson will be observed by a tutor/mentor within NESCol. Following the observed lesson, you will produce a reflective commentary reflecting on the lesson, taking account of the feedback provided by your tutor/mentor. On successful completion of this Unit and the associated assessments you will receive a certificate.

This Unit is worth 3 credits at SCQF level 7.
