Course Messages

Course messages are private and secure text-based communication that occurs within your course among course members.

Although similar to email, you must be logged in to a course to read and send course messages. Messages activity remains inside the system, and you don't have to worry about email addresses that may be incorrect or outdated.

How do I send a Course Message? (Original Course)


Everyone can use messages for reminders, quick questions, and social interactions. If your institution allows, you can attach files from your computer to your messages. On the Compose Message page, select To. A list of all course members appears. In the first box, select the recipients and select the right-pointing arrow to move them to the Recipients box. You can use the options in the editor to format the text of your message. You have creative control over how your content appears and the flexibility to change the order and appearance.




Can I add a Course Message link? (Original Course)


You can add a link to the course menu for immediate access course messages. You can also customise the name of the link.

  1. In Edit Mode, select the Add Menu Item icon above the course menu to access the menu.
  2. Select Tool Link and type a name.
  3. From the Type menu, select Messages.
  4. Select the Available to Users check box if you're ready for students to see it.
  5. Select Submit.




How do I reply to a Course Message? (Original Course)


You can reply to the sender or reply to all. The sender and all other recipients of the message are populated in the To: box. Add other course members to the message as needed. The text of the message is populated with the text of the original message. You may add additional text.




How do I access Course Meassges? (Original Course)


Navigate to the Course Messages page in these ways:

  • On the course menu, go to Tools > Course Messages.
  • On the Control Panel, go to Course Tools > Course Messages.
